Astral Media Supports 16 Canadian Films Selected for the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival

Astral Media Inc. (TSX : ACM.A/ACM.B) is pleased to announce that 16 films supported by its pay-television networks – The Movie Network and Super Écran, and production fund, Astral Media The Harold Greenberg Fund/Le Fonds Harold Greenberg –, have been selected for the 34th annual Toronto International Film Festival®. Astral Media’s slate of supported films includes the gala presentation Cooking with Stella, special presentations Cairo Time, Defendor, The Trotsky and The Movie Network Original Documentary Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel.

Contributing over $610 million to date towards the development and production of homegrown film and television projects through The Movie Network, Super Écran and The Fund/Le Fonds, Astral Media continues to be the largest private investor in Canadian film.
