Astral’s The Movie Network is pleased to announce its Canadian original programming has garnered a total of 27 nominations for the 25th Annual Gemini Awards, as was announced earlier today by The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Nominations for The Movie Network include: nine nominations for the eight-part limited drama series Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures, a television adaptation of Vincent Lam’s award-winning book; eight nominations for the half-hour comedy Less Than Kind; seven nominations for the dark drama Durham County; two for miniseries The Phantom; and one nomination for the one-hour drama The Line.

Astral Media Inc. is pleased to announce that 19 films supported by its pay-television networks – The Movie Network and Super Écran, and production fund, Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund/Le Fonds Harold Greenberg d’Astral – have been selected for the 35th annual Toronto International Film Festival®, running from September 9 to 19, 2010. Astral’s slate of supported films for 2010 includes the Opening Night Gala Presentation of Score: A Hockey Musical; gala presentations Barney’s Version, A Beginners Guide to Endings, and The Bang Bang Club; and the special presentation, Trigger.

As one of Canada’s leading media companies, Astral made a strategic decision to refresh its visual identity in 2009 to reflect its new corporate profile, evolving culture and expansion across Canada. The company will now operate publicly under the Astral name while the legal corporate name remains Astral Media Inc.

| General News: Astral Media's The Movie Network and Family Channel Original Programming Recognized with 24 Gemini Nomiations |

Astral Media’s The Movie Network and Family Channel original series have received a total of 24 nominations for the 24th Annual Gemini Awards as announced today by The Academy of Cinema and Television. Taking the lead for The Movie Network’s original series is Sanctuary with six nominations, followed by The Line and Stargate Atlantis garnering five nominations each and ZOS: Zone of Separation receiving two nominations, including a nod for Best Dramatic Series. Family Channel’s original live-action comedy series Life With Derek and The Latest Buzz received a total of six nominations including recognition in the Best Children's or Youth Fiction Program or Series category.

The English and French-language television services of Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A/ACM.B) received a total of 16 awards at the 2009 PROMAX|BDA Awards Show held from June 16-18, 2009, in New York. The Movie Network, Family Channel, Mpix, Canal D, VRAK.TV and Ztélé garnered 4 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze awards for excellence in marketing, promotion and design, including a silver award for Canal D's new on-air image in the prestigious BDA World 2009 Competition.

Astral Media The Harold Greenberg Fund is pleased to announce the launch of a new documentary fund during the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Film & Television Forum. The new fund of $585,000 will target independent documentary film producers with a Western Canadian focus. The envelope of money for investment in documentary filmmaking that will be managed by The Harold Greenberg Fund has been allocated from residual obligations from the benefits associated with the Standard Radio/Telemedia transaction.
