Food Network Canada kicked off its fall schedule with sizzling success, breaking a Canadian original premiere audience record with the launch of Dinner Party Wars on Wednesday, September 1 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT. Achieving an AMA of 90,000 amongst the highly coveted A25-54 demographic, this breaks the network’s previous record for single-viewing when the premiere of Pitchin’ In brought in a 77,000 AMA for the same demographic in January 2010.

Canwest Broadcasting today confirmed an agreement with NBC Universal to produce a Canadian adaptation of the international smash hit Top Chef and has joined forces with Canadian production powerhouse, Insight Productions, on the development of the series. The inaugural season of Top Chef Canada will premiere in spring 2011 exclusively on Food Network Canada.

Production news: Hit Show 'Fresh With Anna Olson' Begins Production on its Delicious Second Season for Food Network

Peace Point Entertainment Group, proudly announced today the start of production for the second season of ratings hit Fresh with Anna Olson; 26 x 30 minute episodes (shot in HD, airing in standard) to premiere on Food Network Canada in Spring 2009. Once again the series is being shot at Olson’s home in the Canadian resort area of Niagara. Dozens of international networks showed major interest in Fresh recently when it was introduced at MIP in Cannes as Olson’s previous show Sugar was also a hit internationally in 60 countries. So far four networks have signed and dozens more expected shortly. Those include Latin America MGM Casa Club, Israel Ananey, Poland Canal+ and Australia XYZ Networks (Lifestyle Food Channel).

Paperny Films announces that principal photography has begun for “100-Mile Challenge”, the new 60’ x 6 Food Network Canada documentary series that challenges the citizens of Mission, BC to eat food produced within a 100-mile radius for 100 days. The series is based on the best-selling book “100-Mile Diet” by James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith, who will also be the series’ hosts. “100-Mile Challenge” premieres on Food Network Canada in Spring 2009. The series is produced by Paperny Films.
