Sports Programming: Additional Broadcast Talent Announced as Donovan Bailey, Curt Harnett, Kara Lang, and More Join Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium for London 2012

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium announced today additional broadcast talent for its broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Olympians Donovan Bailey, Curt Harnett, and Kara Lang, along with veteran sportscasters Jamie Campbell, Gerry Dobson, and Vic Rauter, all join the talent pool, analyzing and calling the Games on the English-language Consortium platforms. On the French-language side, Hélène Pelletier, Yvan Ponton, Jean Gounelle, Patrick Leduc, Michel Fervac-Larose, and Alain Usereau have been added to the broadcast team. These broadcasters join the previously announced Consortium broadcasters led by Brian Williams and Chantal Machabée. In total, the Consortium now has 23 Olympic medallists on its London 2012 broadcast team.

Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A ACM.B) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with BCE Inc. ("Bell") for the sale of the Company through the acquisition of all of its issued and outstanding shares. Upon closing of this transaction, Bell will acquire all of Astral's pay and specialty television services, radio stations, digital media properties and out-of-home advertising activities.

Providers News: Rogers strikes multiplatform deal to carry TVA, TVA Sports and Sun News

Today Rogers Communications, announced an agreement with Groupe TVA Inc. and Sun News to offer TVA Network, TVA Sports and Sun News content to Rogers customers. The multiplatform agreement includes on-demand content, mobile rights, access to TVA Sports and continued distribution of Sun News. The deal will also make available, in the near future, quality French-language programming on-the-go with TVA on-demand content available on mobile and the Rogers Anyplace TV web platform.

New Channels: Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Coming to Canada!

TELETOON Canada Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. today announced a partnership that will bring Cartoon Network and Adult Swim to Canadian television later this year. This new digital specialty network is a complementary, ad-supported channel with a built-in fan-base. Canadian audiences can expect to see shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time and Regular Show during the Cartoon Network block between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET/PT, followed by an Adult Swim late-night lineup commencing at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
