| Programming Highlights: SWAT-Ready or Subterranean, Twin Brothers Create Extraordinary Machines in HOWE & HOWE TECH, Premiering March 10 on Discovery Channel |
| Posted
on Sunday, February 21, 2010 - 11:10 AM |
Follow the family business of identical twin brothers, Mike and Geoff Howe, as they design and build the coolest machines you’ve ever seen: from high-speed military tanks to supercharged subterranean rovers. Inspiring inventions and over-the-top custom fabrications hit the road – or head off road, as the case may be! – when HOWE & HOWE TECH premieres Wed., March 10 at 9 p.m. ET/11 p.m. PT on Discovery Channel. With a new project in each episode, the tumultuous twins push the limits of innovation by building a new, ingenious – and often insane – machine. Working with their wives, Tammy and Tracy (who also happen to be sisters), and their shop crew, the Howe brothers put everything they have into their inventions. No idea is too crazy or too half-baked to try, but the success or failure of each invention could make or break their small shop on the verge of huge success.

| Programming Highlights: From the Ark to Atlantis, Set out on a Globe-Trotting Quest When Discovery Channel Presents SOLVING HISTORY WITH OLLY STEEDS, Premiering Feb. 24 |
| Posted
on Thursday, February 18, 2010 - 04:28 PM |
Was the Ark of the Covenant smuggled across the desert and preserved to this day? Did Atlantis really exist, as described by Plato? And is there a City of Gold hidden in the Andes? Set out on a heart-pounding globe-trotting quest as Discovery Channel presents SOLVING HISTORY WITH OLLY STEEDS, a new eight-part series that explores the mythology and folklore – and quite possibly, the factual origins – of the mysteries that have fueled human imagination across cultures and through generations. Premiering Wednesday, February 24 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT and hosted by British journalist Oliver “Olly” Steeds, the series travels to the ends of the Earth to investigate the truth behind some of the world’s biggest mysteries. From the lost city of Atlantis to the Ark of the Covenant to the Nazca Lines, Steeds doesn’t just talk to the theorist experts; he puts their controversial claims to the test. Steeds employs hidden cameras, holds clandestine meetings with smugglers, treks to remote locations to see relics, and throws himself head-long and hands-on into local rituals to get the real story and weed fact from fiction.

| Programming Highlights: Cast Out by Society and Fallen From Grace, PIT BULLS AND PAROLEES Offers a New Lease on Life, Feb. 21 on Animal Planet |
| Posted
on Thursday, February 18, 2010 - 04:26 PM |
With a reputation that precedes them, pit bulls are the world’s most misunderstood breed of dogs. Once ranked among America’s top five favourite pets – and known as the "nanny dog" for their gentleness with children – pit bulls have fallen from grace, outcasted by society with the likes of ex-convicts. Now, in an effort to transform pit bull and parolee stereotypes and repair both their tarnished reputation – and lives – comes an emotional new series from Animal Planet, PIT BULLS AND PAROLEES. Premiering Saturday, February 21 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, PIT BULLS AND PAROLEES follows Tia Maria Torres, a 49-year-old mother, renowned pit bull trainer and founder and owner of Villalobos Rescue Center – the largest pit bull rescue and rehabilitation facility in the U.S. Together with her staff of ex-convicts – the guys no one else will hire – fiery drama and unexpected joy results as Torres battles to give both man and man’s best friend a second chance, while trying to reposition public perception toward pit bulls.
