TELETOON Canada Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. today announced a partnership that will bring Cartoon Network and Adult Swim to Canadian television later this year. This new digital specialty network is a complementary, ad-supported channel with a built-in fan-base. Canadian audiences can expect to see shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time and Regular Show during the Cartoon Network block between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET/PT, followed by an Adult Swim late-night lineup commencing at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Corus Entertainment announced today that its new television service, ABC Spark, will launch across Canada on Monday, March 26, 2012. ABC Spark, based on the successful U.S. brand ABC Family, will launch with breakout series including The Secret Life of the America Teenager (starring Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley and Molly Ringwald), Switched at Birth (ensemble cast including Katie LeClerc, Vanessa Marano, Lea Thompson, D.W. Moffett and Constance Marie), Melissa & Joey (starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence) and Make It or Break It (starring Candace Cameron Bure) as well as brand new series Jane By Design (starring Andie MacDowell and newcomer Erica Dasher).

Disney Junior showcases heartfelt stories that include classic and contemporary Disney characters with learning and development themes. Anchoring the Disney Junior brand is the new animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, accompanied by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent Oso and the Canadian series Stella and Sam, to name a few. The French-language counterpart of the network, Playhouse Disney Télé, will also change to Disney Junior on May 6.

Astral Media Inc.today announced that it will add to its slate of kid services with the launch of Disney XD on June 1, 2011. An advertiser-supported network and multi-platform brand, Disney XD will feature a range of live-action and animated programming for kids aged 6-14, with a focus on boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, adventure and humour, while still being inclusive of girl audiences. Distribution partners for the new channel will be announced in the coming weeks.
