Principal Photography Begins on Paperny Film's New food Network Series '100-Mile Challenge'

Food Network Canada

Paperny Films announces that principal photography has begun for “100-Mile Challenge”, the new 60’ x 6 Food Network Canada documentary series that challenges the citizens of Mission, BC to eat food produced within a 100-mile radius for 100 days. The series is based on the best-selling book “100-Mile Diet” by James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith, who will also be the series’ hosts. “100-Mile Challenge” premieres on Food Network Canada in Spring 2009. The series is produced by Paperny Films.

“Everyone from environmentally-friendly foodies to fast-food regulars will love this show,” says David Paperny, Executive Producer, “100-Mile Challenge”. “We can’t wait to see for ourselves if people will cave to their cravings or if they will creatively use some of the new, unfamiliar ingredients to produce gourmet feasts.”

“100-Mile Challenge” will go street-level to test the limits of the 100-mile diet within the small Canadian community of Mission, BC. Each episode will progress chronologically, tracking the ups-and-downs of ordinary citizens as they struggle to create full meals from local ingredients. The series will also draw attention to what average Canadians eat and exactly how far food travels to reach their plates.

“100-Mile Challenge” is executive produced by David Paperny and Cal Shumiatcher. Authors James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith will host the series. Kirsty Dick is the series producer. Eddie O is the series director.
